I love everything about the fall season. The weather provides such a relief from the hot, southern summers that we have here. Then come the scarves and boots, outings to the corn maze and pumpkin patch, and my favorite- paleo pumpkin spiced lattes!
Now, I used to love on the Starbucks PSL. But after having chronic illness with so many food sensitivities and restrictions, I had to make a change.
Not only does Starbucks pumpkin spice latte contain dairy, which I can’t have, but it also has 50 grams of sugar. 50 GRAMS. FOR A SMALL. Diabetes, anyone? Plus, let’s face it; paying over $5 for a coffee is insane.
I tried having a PSL last year after giving up processed foods and sugar, and I honestly couldn’t even finish it, it was way too sweet. So my goal this year was to make a healthy pumpkin spice latte so that I could get into the autumn season the best way possible… Caffeinated.
Paleo Pumpkin Spice Latte
Paleo Pumpkin Spice Latte
Ingredients
- 1 cup strong coffee I like to use homemade cold brew because it's concentrated
- 1/2 cup canned coconut milk or almond milk, cashew milk, hemp milk, etc
- 1 tbsp pumpkin puree
- 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Drizzle of pure maple syrup or Maple Monkfruit syrup for Keto.
Instructions
- Heat the milk & pumpkin on the stove over medium-low heat until it simmers.
- Add the pumpkin pie spice & maple syrup, milk/pumpkin mixture into a high-speed blender (I use the Blendtec) and blend it for 30 seconds or so, until it's foamy.
- Pour it into a mug, add the coffee, and stir well.
- Add a cinnamon stick and sip!
You can even add a little bit of MCT oil if you really want to give this a keto-kick!
What’s your favorite seasonal beverage? Are you in love with pumpkin-everything like I am?
Update Notes

I really want to try this because you’re right, it IS insane to pay over $5 for a coffee! Thanks for the recipe 😀
Right? Every time I’m there I’m like “really? $6 for a coffee?!”
Will you come make this for me like…right now? Lol seriously though my friend and I drink pumpkin spice like it’s going out of style and she is lactose intolerant so…this might have to make a debut during our next girls day!
Haha! Be there for the next girls day! 😉 I’m the same with pumpkin everything once September hits, and I can’t have dairy because of my autoimmune disease. The best part about this is that you can adjust it as necessary, if you want more pumpkin, add more pumpkin pie spice. Hope she loves it!
Oh my goodness this sounds delicious! What a great idea to use the maple syrup as the sweetener. We will have to try this!
Maple syrup is my favorite sweetener! I think it tastes so much better (and more mild) than honey.
Ahhhh! I’m so excited for fall now! I really want to try this! 🙂
It’s so easy, and delicious. Fall is my favorite season, so I’m always prepared with PSL’s! 😉
This is amazing.
I love me some PSL but I’m too cheap for starbucks.
Also, that cold brew sounds incredible!
Hope you get a chance to try it, girl! It’s so good, and I totally agree- I’m way too cheap for starbucks too! XO
