You’ve heard it said that your smile is your best accessory, and I completely agree. A smile can end a disagreement, offer forgiveness, and ease feelings of sadness. It is free to give, and when it’s given freely, it has the potential to change someone else’s entire day for the better. On the other hand though, it is easy to neglect when we are busy or preoccupied. And once we’ve started to go down that road, we become self-conscious of our smile and we don’t offer it as much.
I know that I was definitely feeling that way. I mean, with motherhood, chronic illness, and managing a blog from home, I was relying on coffee to get me going in the morning and wine to wind me down at night. Not so great for healing, and also bad for teeth, with the staining properties of my two favorite beverages. So when I was offered a kit from Smile Brilliant, I was really excited to try it out.
The kit came together with pastes to make my own mold, which I loved. One of the things I always hated about using the whitening strips was that they always slid around on my teeth. So the aspect of having fully customized trays for my teeth whitening was really appealing to me.
I mixed the base and the catalyst, and put them in the molding trays, and then put them in my mouth. It was super easy, and I didn’t have any problems with it at all. Though I have to say, it’s impossible to not look completely awkward while performing this task, so don’t judge.
Once the paste had dried, I took them out of my mouth, rinsed them, and let them fully dry before mailing them back to Smile Brilliant in the pre-paid envelopes that came with the kit. The customizing process could not have been any easier!
5 days later, I had my customized trays, ready to use, and I got to work! I use the desensitizing gel beforehand because I have sensitive teeth. Some people don’t need to, but I did. I forgot to use it during one whitening session, and I had to skip whitening for 2 weeks until my sensitivity went away. Once I started whitening again with the desensitizing gel, all was good again. So if you aren’t sure if your teeth are sensitive, I suggest using the gel anyways. It protects your teeth and will allow the whitening to go much faster if you don’t have to take time off!
I’ve been so thrilled with my results, that I’m definitely going to be buying a refill pack for my trays once these ones are done. Pretty impressive, isn’t it?
Now for the fun part!
