You are 2 years old today. How is that possible? It’s been so much harder watching you grow older. Your brother is such a natural leader, and a great big brother. You, my sweetie, you are so good at being my baby. And now my baby is 2, and you’re not a baby anymore.
You’ve always been such a snuggle bug. Even as you got older and more independent, you still loved snuggling your mama. I cannot even explain to you how special that has been for me. When you get hurt or sad, you only want mama. I secretly love that I’m the only one who can make you feel better.
You’re so sensitive, and even though it gets frustrating at times, I am so happy that you are bringing this emotional vulnerability into a world that feels too cold and hard a lot of the time. You’ve always been so intuitive, and pick up on other people’s emotions very easily. Your eyebrows are so expressive, and I can always tell what you’re thinking just by looking at your face. It makes reading your moods so much easier. When you experience feelings, you feel them all the way. There is no partial feeling, and I admire that about you. I hope that you keep this trait and don’t push it away as you get older in an attempt to be more “manly”. Men feel feelings too, and I hope you’re never ashamed of who you are and how you work.
You’re such a little wild man, and I love it. You help push your brother out of his comfort zone and remind all of us to be silly and try new things. Even though sometimes I think you’re going to give your mama a heart attack, I love that you’re already so brave. You’ve been trying to keep up with your big brother since you could crawl, and he’s your favorite person. You look up to him so much, and you want to do everything he is doing. You’re always up for playing with him and learning to do what he does. You guys are best buddies, and I look forward to seeing your relationship continue to grow throughout the years.
You’re my little athlete, and I’m continually impressed with how coordinated you are at such a young age. You love throwing and kicking balls, and all sports are interesting to you. You’re especially fond of ones that have long sticks like golf, lacrosse, and baseball. I don’t know why you’re so drawn to those, but I think you’re going to be really good at sports. It’s also slightly terrifying to see you with those objects in your hands because I never know what you’re going to try to hit with it! You’d never hit a person, you’re too sweet for that. But any piece of furniture or walls are fair game to you 😉
You also love animals, and it’s so sweet to see this softer side of you. It doesn’t matter what kind of animal it is, you love it. You’re naturally shy around strangers, and it’s so cute to see my wild little man turn into this bashful guy around people he doesn’t know.
You have a lot in common with your brother, but you’re also very different. Your differences make you so special, and I hope you never feel like you need to change who you are in order to fit in. “There is an abundant need in this world for your exact brand of beautiful” -Lysa TerKeurst
You have taught me so much about love, forgiveness, and patience, and I’m so grateful that I was chosen to be your mama. I love you so much, Boogie Monster. Happy birthday!
