Lately, the hubs and I have really gotten focused on saving more, spending less, shopping deals, and DIY. And since this momma is crafty, I’m loving it. I mean, I can totally shop like a pro… but now I have more of an excuse to pull out my crafting bins, browse Pinterest, and get ideas!
In looking for a gift to make our mothers, I found this idea. These were the perfect gift and they turned out so adorable. And FYI, they were really inexpensive, which made this momma happy.
All you need are 4×4 tiles from Home Depot, some photo paper/photos (4×4 obviously), mod podge, a glue gun, felt, and some liquid polyurethane to seal. The tiles I got from Home Depot are only 16 cents each. 16 cents… I know, right? Exciting already!
Next step- Print your 4×4 photos on paper (photo paper is preferred because it doesn’t bubble as much with the Mod Podge). Then go ahead and Mod Podge them to the coasters, making sure they’re straight and coated nicely.
Next step is to cut out felt for the bottom to make sure the tiles don’t scratch up any nice furniture! I basically just cut around the outside of each coaster to make sure I had the right size.
Then pull out the hot glue gun and glue those pieces of felt to the bottom of the coaster!
Once they’re done, sit back and admire your work. Tell yourself that they look professional. Nobody will ever know... ???? They actually do turn out really really nice, especially for such a simple project. Our mothers loved them!
Hope y’all have a good time with these! They are a great gift for grandparents!
***UPDATE*** Here is the coaster that I made for my hubs for Father’s day. I used a bigger tile, and he uses it at work for his coffee and water 🙂
