My Sweet Lucas,
Today is your 4th birthday. I can’t believe that much time has gone by since you were born. You are the baby who made me a mama. The sweet little boy who stuck by me as I learned how to nurse you, as I learned how to get you to sleep, as I learned how to take care of you and as I learned how to be your mama.
It seems like just yesterday when we hung out all the time – just the two of us. We went to the playground a lot, because you loved the swings. You’d just hang out in that swing for hours, just giggling and watching your mama. You loved going to the pool, and we swam all the time. You did the most precious little frog kick all over the pool, and it was just about the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen!
You’re such a sweet little boy, and people are always commenting on how polite you are. You’ve got such a big heart, and you care about everybody. You love making new friends, and I’m in awe watching you grow and learn every day.
You’re such a smart boy! You’ve always been so much older than your age, and you’ve always loved learning. You’ve been doing puzzles since you were 1 1/2, learning the alphabet and writing the letters, and every day you ask more so you can learn more. Mommy is so proud of you and how hard you work to learn whatever you can.
And you’re SUCH a great big brother. You say all the time that Micah is your best friend, and that makes my heart melt. He looks up to you so much, and is always trying to be just like you. You guys are so adorable when you’re playing together, and you can always cheer each other up. I love how you tell him goodnight, and you tell him “let me know if you get scared or if you need me!” You’re so silly, and you love making us laugh. We love your humor, and your sass. You’re such a special boy.
My sweet firstborn, you turn 4 today. I’m so proud of the loving, caring boy you’re growing into, and I can’t wait to see you grow more every day. I pray that I can be the mama that God wants me to be for you. And I pray that daddy and I can provide the guidance and nourishment that you need to blossom into a good man. I pray that we will raise you to know how much Jesus loves you, and that you’ll love Him in return. You have been such a blessing to me in these last four years, and I look forward to watching you grow, develop and learn more with each passing day.
Mommy loves you so much, Bubby. Happy birthday!
You hit me in the heart with this one. My oldest is 5, and my middle just turned 4. So many wishes, and hopes, and dreams we have for them. They grew so fast. All the best for your little one. Happy birthday as well. This was a special and sweet post.
Thanks for reading, Candy. It’s amazing the love we have for our kiddos, and the things we wish for them. <3
This is so sweet 🙂 he sounds like a wonderful little man.
Beautiful post! I think every mom can relate to the special bond you have with your son. It’s amazing how fast the time goes!
Isn’t it amazing to watch them grow? I always get teary-eyed thinking about how much time has passed, and how we’ll never get those moments back. Every day is a new adventure with them. And even when the house is a mess, we appreciate the moments we get to cuddle up with them because they’re sick, or simply want some mommy and me time. 🙂
Oh man, now you’re going to make me cry again! 🙁 XO
Oh, I’m having trouble swallowing the lump in my throat.
I can totally see the bond you two share, and how special it really is. It reminds me of the bond I have with my own son, the boy who made me a mama. Wishing the absolute happiest of birthdays to your little 4 year old, may you continue to learn to grow him like only you know how <3
Thanks girl <3 They sure are special to us, aren't they?
